Biography

Assoc. Prof. Cobbold trained as a veterinarian and practised in Australia and the UK before completing a PhD in microbiology co-jointly with the University of Queensland (UQ) and CSIRO Food Science Australia. He undertook a faculty position at Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine for four years before returning to Australia to a teaching and research position with the UQ School of Veterinary Science. In July 2024, Rowland joined 糖心传媒 as the Discipline Chair for Veterinary Sciences. Rowland鈥檚 research centres on zoonotic and food-borne pathogens, using One Health approaches to understand their epidemiology and approaches to control and prevention. Specific projects have investigated enterohaemorrhagic E. coli (EHEC); Salmonella, Campylobacter, Q fever, leptospirosis and antimicrobial resistance. He also undertakes research relating to biosecurity and infection control. Prof. Cobbold leads the design and deployment of its new BVetMed course. He is the recipient of numerous teaching awards (including a National citation) and has experience in international curriculum development, educational standards, and teaching design. His research portfolio extends to the Scholarship of Learning and Teaching.
