Biography
Dr Julia Marsden is a Lecturer in Psychology and Clinical Psychologist with expertise in perinatal mental health. Her PhD examined compassion-focused approaches to women鈥檚 psychological adjustment to motherhood. Her clinical practice draws on CBT, ACT, EMDR, DBT, CFT, mindfulness and psychodynamic approaches.
Research
Julia鈥檚 research focuses on perinatal mental health, including birth trauma and PTSD, pregnancy following perinatal loss, self-compassion, and maternal wellbeing. She is particularly interested in transdiagnostic psychological mechanisms and digital mental health interventions that translate psychological science into accessible, evidence-based care.
Teaching
Julia teaches and supervises students across undergraduate and postgraduate psychology programs, including Honours and Masters. Her teaching draws on her experience as a clinical psychologist and researcher, with an emphasis on evidence-based practice, research skills, and translating psychological science into meaningful outcomes.

Julia is a proud mum of two and animal lover with a gorgeous chocolate Labrador. She values her family time, Polish heritage, staying active, running and taking on new sporting challenges.
