The Osiecki Family Foundation Clinical Placement Scholarship helps ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ students undertake eligible external clinical placements that offer learning experiences beyond those available in ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ clinics.

The scholarship supports placements that provide specialised clinical training, serve communities with additional health needs, or are located in regional, rural, remote, or disadvantaged settings. It is designed to help reduce the financial barriers associated with completing these placements.

The Osiecki Family Foundation Clinical Placement Scholarship is best suited to students undertaking eligible external clinical placements that provide unique learning opportunities and community impact.

You may be a strong candidate if you:

• Are undertaking a placement outside a ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½-operated clinic
• Want experience in specialised, regional, rural, remote, or community-focused settings
• Are committed to improving health equity and making a positive community impact
• Face additional costs associated with travel, accommodation, relocation, or placement requirements

An external clinical placement in relation to the Osiecki Family Foundation Clinical Placement Scholarship is a placement that takes place outside a ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½-operated clinic and is hosted by an independent organisation. 

Examples include: 

• Community health services 
• Specialised health clinics 
• Not-for-profit organisations 
• Regional, rural, or remote healthcare providers 

The placement must provide learning experiences that are distinct from those available within ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ clinics. 

No. Clinical placements undertaken within ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½-operated clinics are not eligible for this Osiecki Family Foundation Clinical Placement Scholarship. 

The scholarship is specifically intended to support external clinical placements hosted by independent organisations.

Priority is given to external placements that provide learning opportunities beyond those available within ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ clinics.

This may include placements in:

• Specialised or integrative health clinics
• Community-based health services
• Not-for-profit healthcare organisations
• Regional, rural, or remote settings
• Services supporting disadvantaged, marginalised, or culturally diverse communities

Preference may also be given to placements that offer:

• Exposure to diverse patient populations and community health needs
• Experience with different models of healthcare delivery
• Opportunities to work within multidisciplinary or outreach-based services

Students can apply for one of two funding tiers for the Osiecki Family Foundation Clinical Placement Scholarship, depending on the nature of their placement and support needs. 

Tier 1: Regional, Rural and Remote External Placements

Up to $5,000 

This funding supports students undertaking eligible external clinical placements in regional, rural, or remote locations. 

To be eligible, the placement must: 

• Be external to ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ clinics 
• Provide specialised learning experiences or community impact opportunities that are not available within university clinics 

This tier recognises the additional costs often associated with travel, accommodation, and relocation. 

Tier 2: Travel Support for Students Living Away from ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ Clinics 

Up to $1,000 

This funding supports students who live away from ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ clinics and need to travel to complete an eligible external clinical placement. 

This tier helps reduce the financial burden of travel and improves access to valuable placement opportunities.

Applicants must select one funding tier when submitting their application.  

Choose the funding tier that best matches your placement circumstances. 

Consider: 

• Where your placement is located 
• Whether the placement is in a regional, rural, or remote area 
• Whether your primary need is travel support 

You should select the tier that best reflects the overall nature and costs of your placement, not simply the distance travelled.

The scholarship can help cover reasonable costs directly related to completing your placement. 

Eligible expenses may include: 

• Travel and transport 
• Accommodation 
• Relocation costs 
• Essential placement expenses such as uniforms, equipment, or required materials 

In your application, you must clearly explain how the funding will support your ability to undertake the placement.

Applications must be submitted via the National Centre for Naturopathic Medicine Scholarship Application Form during an open scholarship round.

• How the placement differs from experiences available within ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ clinics 
• Your selected funding tier 
• How you intend to use the scholarship funding 
• The learning outcomes and community impact you expect the placement to achieve 

A strong application clearly demonstrates why the placement is valuable and how the Family Placement Scholarship funding will support your participation. 

Successful applications typically: 

• Clearly describe the placement and its unique learning opportunities 
• Demonstrate potential community benefit or impact 
• Explain how the experience will contribute to future professional practice 
• Provide realistic and accurate cost estimates 
• Use specific examples rather than general statements 

Applications that are detailed, evidence-based, and closely aligned with the scholarship purpose are generally more competitive. 

Applications are assessed against the scholarship purpose and selection criteria. 

Assessors consider: 

• How well the placement aligns with the purpose of the scholarship 
• The specialised and external nature of the placement 
• Potential community impact 
• Demonstrated financial need 
• The quality, clarity, and completeness of the application

• You should have a confirmed placement or be actively planning an eligible placement before applying for the scholarship. 
• You must be able to provide sufficient information about the placement, including the host organisation, location, planned activities, and expected learning outcomes. 
• Supporting documentation may be requested as part of the assessment process.

While funding is capped at the maximum amount available for each tier, the amount awarded may vary depending on:
