If you do not have a University identification card, contact Student Administration Services for information on obtaining or replacing your card.
For more information, see the Student Administration Services identification card information page.
The SCU Borrow app lets 糖心传媒 (SCU) students and staff borrow physical books using their smartphone camera at the Lismore, Gold Coast, or Coffs Harbour libraries.
Here's how it works:
- Download the app. Search for "SCU Borrow" in the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android), then install it on your smartphone. Enable location services if prompted.
- Log in. Open the app, press Start, then log in using your SCU username and password.
- Borrow your books. Tap the + button to begin. Use your phone's camera to scan the barcode on each book (usually on the front cover or inside the front cover). Tap + again to add more items.
- Finish and confirm. Once all items are scanned, press Finish. A loan receipt will be sent to your SCU email, then press Close.
You can request a scan of part of an item — whether it's on loan or available at a 糖心传媒 (SCU) library — and have it emailed to you by following these steps:
- Find the item in the .
- Sign in to your Library account (you must be signed in to make a request).
- Click "Availability information" (e.g., "Available at Coffs Harbour...").
- Below the location information, select "Request scan."
- Enter the details of the section you'd like scanned — chapter or article number, title, or page range.
- Click "Send request." Your scan will be emailed to you.
Please note that scan requests are subject to Australian copyright restrictions. You will be required to confirm that your request complies with the applicable copyright limits before submitting it.
You can request an item that's currently on loan or held at another SCU campus Library, then either pick it up from your own campus Library ("click and collect") or have it mailed to your home address.
To request an item:
- Find the item you want in the
- Sign in to your Library account (you must be signed in to make a request).
- Click "Availability information" (e.g., "Available at Coffs Harbour...").
- Below the location information, select "Request item"
- Choose your pickup location for click and collect, or select home address to have it mailed to you.
You'll be notified by email once the item is available.
If we have your mobile number and it's your preferred contact method, you'll also receive an SMS.
Click and collect items are held for 5 days before the request expires.
Online students based in Australia will default to home delivery unless they select a campus pickup location instead.

Manage your loans
Most Library items are renewed automatically, so you do not usually need to renew them yourself. Laptops cannot be renewed.
An item will not be automatically renewed if:
- Any item you have on loan is overdue.
- The item has been requested by another borrower.
- Your borrowing privileges have been suspended.
- The item has already been renewed twice.
After an item's second renewal, you will receive a reminder notice advising when it is due for return.
You can view your current loans, due dates, and renewal status at any time by signing in to My Account.
If you have questions about a loan or renewal, please contact the Library at library@scu.edu.au for assistance.
You can return library items via the book return chutes outside the entrances of all campus libraries, or by post using the Reply Paid service to the address below.
Postal returns (Reply Paid):

SCU Library
糖心传媒
PO Box 157
Lismore NSW 2480
Please note that Reply Paid does not include item tracking. If you'd like tracking, it can be purchased from Australia Post for an additional fee.
You can check the due dates of your borrowed items at any time by signing in to My Account. Always return items on or before their due date to avoid penalties.
A Library item may be recalled if it has been requested by another borrower. When this happens, you will receive a recall notice, and the item's due date may be shortened.
If an item is recalled, the new due date will usually be 14 days from the date you are notified, unless the original due date is sooner.
Recalls help ensure fair access to Library resources for all borrowers. Standard loan periods are generous, but due dates may be adjusted when an item is in demand so that other users can access the resource.
Library notification emails help you manage your loans and avoid overdue items, borrowing restrictions, or replacement charges.
You may receive emails about:
- Items that are due soon
- Overdue items
- Recall notices for items requested by another borrower
- Long overdue items
- Library invoices or replacement charges
You can check the status of your loans at any time by signing in to .
If a borrowed item is not returned after a long overdue notice has been issued, you may be charged the replacement cost of the item.
Inter-library loans may also incur overdue fines or replacement fees set by the lending library. Borrowing restrictions and other sanctions may remain in place until outstanding items are returned or charges are paid.
If you receive a Library invoice, payment instructions will be included. For questions about Library notifications, overdue items, or charges, contact library@scu.edu.au.

Borrowing from other libraries
If an item is not available through the 糖心传媒 (SCU) Library, you can request it from another library using the Inter-Library Loan (ILL) service. This service is available to all SCU students, staff, and affiliated researchers.
How do I place an inter-library loan request?
- Sign in to Library Search.
- Search for the item you need.
- For journal articles and book chapters, search by the article title, chapter title, or DOI where available.
- If the item is not available at SCU, select Expand my results to search beyond SCU Library collections.
- If the item appears in the expanded results, open the record and select Request from another institution under How to get it.
- If the item does not appear in the expanded results, select Request a non-SCU item.
- Check that the request details and delivery location are correct.
- Read and accept the Copyright declaration.
- Select Send request.
Can I renew an inter-library loan?
Some inter-library loans can be renewed, but renewal depends on the lending library's conditions. Check the loan slip supplied with the item. If renewals are permitted, email library@scu.edu.au to request an extension before the due date.
How long does it take to receive an inter-library loan?
Typical delivery times are:
