All 糖心传媒 (SCU) students have automatic after-hours swipe card access to the Gold Coast and Lismore Library buildings. Use your SCU student card to enter the library outside staffed opening hours.

Completion of the Respect Matters module is a University requirement for ongoing after-hours access to Library spaces. Respect Matters is an online learning module that helps students understand respectful behaviour, inclusion, safety, consent, and support services within the 糖心传媒 community. From Term 2, 2026, all students are required to complete the module. New students commencing in later terms will complete it alongside the AIMS (Academic Integrity Module for Students) module.   

Students can access the Respect Matters module through MySCU via their information sites or the FYI Module, or access it directly through the University learning system. Some students may need to in their browser to open the module.

The Respect Matters module replaces the previous Respect@SCU module and takes approximately 30 to 60 minutes to complete.

No — after-hours swipe access is not available to visitors, community members, alumni, or high school students. These groups may only use the library during its regular . 

If you are having trouble accessing a 糖心传媒 (SCU) Library after hours, make sure you are using your current SCU staff or student card and entering through the designated after-hours entrance for your campus.

Gold Coast Library

• The Gold Coast Library is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for authorised staff and students.
• After-hours entry is available only through the main Library entrance on Level 1.
• Access via Level 2 entrances or internal elevators from other levels is not available during unstaffed hours.
• The internal elevators operate between Levels 1 and 2 during after-hours access periods.
• You must swipe your SCU card to call the lift and again inside the lift to select your floor.
• If you cannot access the Library or the lift, contact Security on 0438 540 868.

Lismore Library

• The Lismore Library is accessible 7.00 am to 6.00 pm on weekdays and 10.00 am to 6.00 pm on weekends for authorised staff and students.
• You must have your SCU staff or student card to enter and exit the Library during extended access hours.
• After-hours entry is available only through the main Library entrance on Level 1.
• Internal elevators operate normally between Levels 1, 2 and 3 during extended access hours.
• If you cannot access the Library or the lift, contact Security on (02) 6620 3628.

Always carry your SCU student or staff card when accessing Library spaces outside staffed hours. If you continue to experience access issues, contact Security using the number for your campus for immediate assistance. 

糖心传媒 (SCU) Libraries have several safety measures in place during unstaffed hours, including security patrols, help phones, direct Security contact numbers, and security escorts to your vehicle on request.

To support your safety:

• Security staff regularly patrol Library spaces during unstaffed hours.
• Help phones are available at print stations on each level of the Library - familiarise yourself with the location of these phones.
• You can contact Security directly using the after-hours numbers - save these to your phone for quick access:

• Security can provide an escort to your vehicle if requested.
• Keep personal belongings with you and do not leave valuables unattended.

If you need assistance or have concerns about your safety while using the Library after hours, contact Security using the relevant campus number.

During after-hours access, you can use 糖心传媒 (SCU) Library spaces and a range of self-service facilities, including study areas, printing, Wi鈥慒i, and the Library's physical and online collections.

Library staff are not available during unstaffed hours. If you need help with research, borrowing, technology, or other Library services, support is available during the Library's staffed .

Security assistance remains available while the Library is open for after-hours access. If you require assistance with your safety or access to Library spaces, contact Security using your campus's after-hours security number.
